Holy Trinity Church World Bank celebrates Mother’s Day

Swift Share!

The pride of women is what we celebrate today and as we celebrate the mothers, we remember our Mother Mary.

This was postulated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Ijemaru of Holy Trinity Parish, World Bank during the Mother’s Day celebration, April 14.

In his homily, the priest reminded mothers that through Mother Mary we succeed.  This is because where Mother (Mary) is, there her Son, (Jesus) would always be.  He further stated that the first Eve created on earth brought shame and disgrace to mankind but the second Eve, Virgin Mary is our pride.

He warned mothers to look into the life-style their children live especially the girls.  Do not hesitate to say the truth.  Copy the life of our Blessed Virgin Mary who is our role model, advice your , tell them the consequences surrounding the type of life they live.  As mothers make sure that your life is transparent enough for your children to see through it, live an exemplary life.

The priest charged the people of God to make out time for God as God is ready to work with them any time, any day rather than thinking more of the earthly things.  Make God the first in all the things you do he advised.

To those who treat women with disrespect, especially the mothers, he warned them to stop doing so as we were all brought into the world through women.  Therefore, they deserve fare treatment, love and respect from us all.

Pointing out the qualities of a mother from the word ‘MOTHER’ he said: M-is for Mother Mary and Maturity.    O – for OBEDIENCE, ORDERLINESS and ORGANIZER.  T – TEACHER, TENDERLINESS AND TOLERANCE – H-HUMAN, HEALER, HUMILITY, HONESTY   EXAMPLARY LIFE AND EXCELLENCE.  R – RESPONSIBILITY, RESERVED AND RECEPTIVE.

Delivering her welcome address, the President, Catholic Women Organization, Holy Trinity Parish, Lady Meg Adamma Ezurike said that mother’s day celebration is an annual, social and religious event in the Catholic Church.  A day of recollection when mothers appraise their performances as good Catholic mothers and also equip themselves for the challenges ahead.  Therefore, it is set aside in the church worldwide to honour and appreciate the mothers for their contributions.  She described a good mother as an asset and precious gift from God whose heart and mind is filled with words of the scripture to impact virtues and values to all.  The theme of this year’s mother’s day is “Love in Action”, the theme she said was thoughtfully selected because of the high rate of crime, insecurity and corruption in our country Nigeria.

She lamented that our love for our country is in words not in action.  She said the slogan, “ONE NIGERIA” to come into action, the women have decided to make move for change and better direction for our children in various homes.

She stated that some mothers were conferred with the title of “PRECIOUS MOTHERS awards to encourage and appreciate their contributions, recognition of some children who God has blessed their parents as “STAR BABIES” and the idea of acquiring a befitting bus for the activities of the organization, which is the major project at hand.
