Brother Augustine Ojukwu celebrates Golden Jubilee of Religious profession – As seven others make final vow

It was a joyful day in the Congregation of the Marist Brothers of the Schools, November 9, 2013 as Rev. Bro. Augustine Ojukwu celebrated his golden jubilee anniversary.

The event which attracted friends and well-wishers of the celebrant began with a Holy Mass held at Holy Trinity Cathedral Orlu by His Lordship, Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma.

Delivering a homily during the Mass, the priest in-charge of Religious Affairs in the diocese, Rev. Fr. Josephat Obiajunwa described the day as a very special one in the congregation of the Marist Brothers of the Schools.  He added that the congregation celebrated one of them who have served God and humanity for 50 years as a Rev. Brother.

He also described it as a unique occasion and a coincidence as the Catholic Church in the whole world are concluding the Year of Faith in the same month Bro. Augustine Ojukwu is celebrating his golden jubilee.

Fr. Obiajunwa commended the jubilarian for his relentless service to the church and the society since he became a Rev. Brother in the Congregation of the Marist Brothers and urged others to emulate the life of the jubilarian in order to achieve the aim for the establishment of the Marist Brothers of the Schools.

In his speech, the Provincial Superior Marist Brothers of the Schools, Province of Nigeria, Rev. Bro. Joachim Ezetulugo expressed his gratitude to the family of the jubilarian for their support and encouragement to Bro. Augustine Ojukwu since he made his first profession as a Rev. Brother.

He appreciated Bro. Augustine for being dedicated to his service and contribution to the growth of the Marist Brothers of the Schools, describing him as one who can give all he has in order to save the life of others.  He added that his good works cannot easily be forgotten as far as Marist Brothers of the Schools is concerned.

Bro. Augustine Ojukwu hails from Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.  He made his first profession on January, 1963 and was once the Manager of Assumpta Press, Owerri.

Our reporter also gathered that seven of the Marist Brothers of the School marked their final profession during the occasion.  These include Rev. Bros. Jude Anani fms, Callistus James fms, Emma Ogu fms, Emmanuel Ugbaji fms, Marcel Onwuasoeze fms, Samuel Okebaram fms and Lucky Paul Ogwu fms.
