Losing body fat to get lean requires a few simple changes in our diets and being consistent in our efforts.  Not only will the changes bring about a decrease in body fat, there will also be increased and more balanced energy levels, less mood swings and feeling satiated.


Here are 3 things you can incorporate in your diet today, to get you on the path to fat loss and getting lean:

  • Drink more water ideally 2.5 litres a day, for those in hotter climates, if you exercise or are pregnant you will need more. Avoid sweetened and carbonated drinks, they are loaded with sugar and empty calories and if taken in excess lead to tooth decay, weight gain and obesity, which can lead to other health issues. Water on the other hand will hydrate you, flush toxins out of your body help to maintain optimal functioning of your metabolism and nourish your cells and organs.
  • Opt for natural food, which has had none or minimal processing and hence retains most of the needed nutrients for your body. Eat less processed food, which normally is loaded with saturated fat/salt/sugar and many other added ingredients of no benefit to your body, health or efforts to lose body fat,
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables, especially the latter. They are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals helping to provide needed nutrients for your body to function at its best. They also help fight disease and as they are low in calories but energy dense, they help with weight maintenance and keeping you lean.

Making changes in your diet together with regular exercise will help you start to lose fat, build muscle and get lean.
