2015 Polls: INEC spends N108.851bn – as Buhari appoints new INEC boss

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC announced Wednesday that it spent N108.51 billion to conduct this year’s general elections.
The commission equally got N5.207 billion as support from various development partners for electoral purposes.
The disclosure which was contained in the 233-page comprehensive document of the 2015 General Elections Report presented to the public in Abuja, also revealed that INEC spent N1,749 on each individual registered voter.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on the same day named Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as the new INEC Chairman. The appointment was made at the first Council of State meeting chaired by Buhari in Abuja.

Mrs. Amina Zakari, who had been acting INEC chair since June 30, was named National Commioner alongside four others.
The five National Commissioners are: Amina Zakari (North-West), Dr. Anthonia Okoosi-Simbine (North Central), Alhaji Baba Shettima Arfo (North-East), Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Lecky (South-South) and Mr. Soyebi Adedeji Solomon (South-West). The South-East, it noted still have a sitting National Commissioner.
