Naze Community Seeks Government’s Assistance

Naze Autonomous Community in Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo State, urgently need the assistance of both the state and local governments towards the renovation of dilapidated classrooms, science laboratories and halls of Naze Secondary School built by the community in 1978. The community through her apex body; Naze Peoples Assembly, has sent an S.O.S. to His Excellency, the Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, O.O.N. including pictures to show what is left of the school. Also, the ongoing nurses’ quarters at the Naze Primary Health Centre which is under construction by the community has stopped due to lack of funds. The community built the Health Centre in 80s.

The President General of the Naze People’s Assembly, Chief Surv. Chris .U. Madu made the disclosure at a two days Easter delegates conference (26-27 March 2016) held at Naze Secondary School hail and attended by delegates from other states. Chief Surv. Chris .U. Madu had earlier led delegates who visited the secondary school, the Primary Health Centre as well as the NKWO NAZE Market” where illegal structures were built around Oha Naze Council of Elders Hail, condemned the lawless act where some individuals built shops without authority from any quarter. After recalling historic developments from 1966-2013 he informed the conference-in- session, that the annual cultural festival, “ITE OFE NAZE” which has not been celebrated for many years has been revived and will come up in August this year and therefore appealed to all Naze sons and daughters to be prepared. The President General paid tributes to the past heroes for their patriotism while alive and appealed to Naze Youth for change of behavior reminding them that whatever God has decided that one be must be must surely be as no person can change it. Among the hero past he listed in his address were, Engr. Amadi Ameshi, Engr. Lawrence Achodo, Chief C. Nze, Oha Theophilus Iheanacho, Elder Ernest Amadleke, Chief Okechukwu Njoku, Oha Mark Mere and Mr. innocent lwuagwu. “For some of them who are dead, we must give them postuhumous award when the times come he added”.

Earlier on 26/3/2016, lectures were delivered by officials of Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency — N.D.L.E.A. on “Drug Abuse & Effects.

Engr. Damian Anyanwu talked about Youth Management and Empowerment while Professor Charles Osuji and Dr. Noel Onyewuotu, respectively, delivered lectureon General Health Management. Questions and answers featured during the lectures to the admiration of Delegates at the conference.

Also, the traditional ruler of Naze autonomous community in his welcomed address at the conference, called on the community to love one another and be dedicated to whatever responsibility the leaders assigned anyone. Eze F.O. Ugorji used the opportunity to cut the tape of a borehole water drilled by Chief Daniel Mba, ONYIKAODORO I of NAZE at the Naze Secondary School which he donated to the school with appreciation from Principals, Naze Secondary Schooi,Mrs. Chizor Uwazuruonye and Dr. Mrs. C.O. Agbonye.
