…As LSM, Holy Rosary  Sub-Council ends Retreat

Nigerians, like the rest of the world, have no time for God as they are busy pursuing material things and matters of the flesh.

A Spiritan priest, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Odo Cssp expressed this view during a three-day retreat for Ladies of St. Mulumba, Holy Rosary Sub-Council, Owerri, held at LSM Youth/Women Empowerment and Retreat Centre, World Bank Owerri, July 22-24, 2016.

The priest said Nigeria and the world are witnessing turbulence, killings, kidnappings, demolitions, all sorts of violence and wickedness because we have abandoned God and embraced materialism, entertainment and things of the flesh.

The priest who is of Fr. Philip Agu Spiritual Academy, Akabo Ikeduru said because of the so-called modernity, people now worship technology and science. “Many of us cannot do without phone, computer, television, internet, facebook, WhatsAPP etc. We have no time for Christ but they have plenty time for technology and entertainment. Our young ones have no time for prayers but they have plenty time for film, sports and internet chatting.”

Fr. Odo said that real joy and security could only be found in Jesus and advised Nigerians to go back to God for nobody finds peace unless peace given by God.

He reminded Knights and Ladies that they have a major work to do in the church. “You must defend the church and its interest at all times”, he said and condemned in strong terms situations and occasions where Knights attack the church they swore to defend.

He praised Ladies of St. Mulumba Holy Rosary Sub-Council for appreciating the importance of retreat or being alone with Christ and prayed that the retreat may rejuvenate their spiritual life.

In her vote of thanks, the Worthy President of the Sub-Council, Lady Vic Mary Asebo thanked the Retreat Moderator, Fr. Benjamin Odo for the quality retreat. She also commended the LSM members of the Sub-Council for turning out in their large number, saying the retreat will bear fruits in their lives.
