Twelve couples were on Saturday 13th August, 2016 united in holy matrimony at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Umuohiagu in Ngor-Okpala LGA.

The mass wedding attracted many family members, friends and well-wishers of the couples. In a homily, he delivered during the Holy Mass, the Parish Priest of St. Michael’s Umuohiagu, Rev. Fr. Oscar Unakalamba pointed out to the couples that a happy marriage depends on how they performed their duties in the family. The duties according to the Biblical injunction that charged wives to respect their husband, emulate the footsteps of our Mother Mary by being prayerful, respectful, humble and submissive to their husbands and to the husbands, he urged them to love their wives and endeavour to take up their responsibilities boldly as the head of the family, show love and care both to their wives and children. He admonished them to make their family be like the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Fr, Unakalamba charged the couples to live a good Christian life and never to go back to their past ways of life as it will be detrimental to their new Christian and religious life.

The prelate urged them to remain close to God who has shown them his special favour. He prayed for God’s abundant blessings and grace on the new couples. The Mass featured the exchange of marital vows and rings by the couples.

In an interview with The Leader, one of the grooms expressed his heart-felt gratitude to God for having sustained them this far. He thanked the Parish Priest who organized the event and all who came to share in their joy.
