Chief & Lolo L.A. Osuagwu celebrate Golden Jubilee Anniversary
Rev. Fr. Gerald Osuagwu, former Parish Priest St. Theresa Umunakanu, celebrated the Eucharist at the 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary of the Holy Matrimony of his parents. Chief and Lolo Innocent Osuagwu (KSM) at St. Joseph Parish, Umualumaku, Ehime L.G.A Imo State on Thursday 29th December 2016.
Fr. Osuagwu concelebrated the Mass with a retinue of Priests who included, Very Rev. Frs. Cajethan Ehiem, Vicar-General, Okigwe Diocese, Rev. Frs. Alex Onyemata, Nathaniel Ezenwa, Culbeit Okeke, Donald Obi, Eric Mouneke, Richard Agbayi, Barr Oliver Mbagwa, Anthony NwaohiriJ Kelechi Uzuegbu, Desmond Iberieme, Peter Anyanwu, Eze Christian, Christian Obioha, Tony Dieme, Dr. B.A.A Osuji and Fr Chidi Ihedioha, among others.
In his homily Rev. Fr. Peter Anyanwu observed that the purpose of the thanksgiving is to appreciate God for sustaining the marriage through tick and thin for 50 years.
He blessed and appreciated the couple who he described as a blessing to the church, an epitome of love and leadership at diverse levels in politics, traditional institution, a 4th degree knight, a teacher, opinion leader and sagacious multifaceted personalities.
Fr. Anyanwu paid a glowing encomium on the couple for the gift of eight children that comprise four young men and four women.
He described the marriage as a very successful though not without turbulent times.
He harped on the degeneration of Christian values of faithfulness and described lesbianism and Homosexual relationships which he described as despicable evil. He regrets that marriages collapse because of the advert of technology, money, business and even because of use or abuse of mobile phones.
The Cleric described Lady Philomena Osuagwu as a virtuous mother and pillar of the House. He extolled her inimitable motherly role and enjoined mothers to emulate her candor, passion, humility and great in faith and service to God and man.
The conjugal bliss of the couple was consummated on January 1 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Umualumaku by Rev. Fr. White an Irish priest. The unique marriage is blessed with Pauline, Magnus, Anthony, Vivian, Callista, Rev. Fr. Gerald, Judith and Emmanuel.
The Leader spoke to Chief Richard Egbule, Chairman, Salaries and Wages, Commission moments after the Mass. According to him, Chief Innocent Osuagwu (Agbawodikeizu) is a good tool in the hands of God hence one of his children, serves God as Priest.
He recalled with nostalgia how Rev. Fr. Gerald Osuagwu was used by God to construct an edifice at St. Theresa’s Parish Umunakanu. He prayed God to grant the family more returns.
In their vote of thanks, the first daughter of the family, Pauline Ijeoma Atuche and Magnus Ifeanyi expressed profound appreciation to the congregation for their presence. They made a cash donation of Three Hundred Thousand for the ongoing project in the Church. This was complimented with Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira donation from Chief Richard Egbule.
The Bishop of Okigwe Diocese, Most Rev. Solomon Amatu felicitated with the Golden Couple. He prayed God to continue to bless and guide the family. Rev. Fr. Peter Anyanwu presented a special gift from Holy See in Rome to the celebrants.
Dignitaries present at the event included Hon. Dr. Stanford Onyirimba, Chief Sir V.N Nwaohiri, Chief Virgilus Okechukwu, Sir Declan Okereke, Chief Noble Amah (KSJI), Sir C.E. Nwoke (KSM), Sir Ekwerike Anthony, Chief Richard Egbule (Obanze), Engr. Eugene Anugom, Sir Julius Onuoha (DGK) Ehime Sub-Council (KSM), Sir C.A. Okoro (Grand Knight), Ehime Mbano Sub-Council and Ladies and Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria who came in their regalia in good numbers.
