The outcome of the United People’s Party (UPP) Congress in Anambra State expected to hold  Saturday August 19, in Awka, would be transparent, Sir Ejike Uche, Chairman of the Primary Congress told The Leader in Owerri before leaving to Awka.

“The congress would be transparent, a starting point of democracy, there will be no imposition of candidate, everything would be done in full glare of the delegates, press, observers, INEC,” he said, adding that “UPP as a party that parades a National chairman of integrity, wisdom and knowledge would not settle for less.”

In answer to a question, Chief Uche who is the UPP Deputy National Chairman (South) said: “The assignment is a usual terrain for me, being the third Primary I am going to chair. One was in 2015 at Umuahia, during my stint at APGA, the other was during Governor Obiano’s Congress though I was not the Chairman but a member. There is no new challenge; the political orography is well known to me. Again making this simpler is the fact that UPP is an ideological party. Its mandate as per the manifesto has made it specific for compliance by the competing Aspirants. Any of them that would get the ticket, would campaign using the contents of our manifesto which is ideologically based. When the candidate emerges at the pool to become a Governor, he would operate our manifesto not his, a great departure of what obtains in other political parties.”

Hon. Uche, a former Commissioner in Imo State, believed strongly that the candidate that would emerge would be the one to beat at Anambra election come November this year. “We are different from others as a party as we do not have faction, court case or misunderstanding from and within the party,” he said.

Uche, a Knight of St. John International, appealed to his friends to say one “memore” for the success of the assignment.

Other members of the organizing committee are; Alhaji Kabiru – Deputy National Chairman North, Chief Dike Ogbuehi – National Publicity Secretary, Mr. John Enodage – National Youth Leader, Mr. Onu Uwa – Deputy National Org. Secretary, Hon.  Chekwas Okorie – Chief of Staff, Mr. David Ukaije – National Admin. Sec.

Meanwhile, the two major aspirants expected to slug it out at the congress are: Hon. Barr Chudi Ofodile, a two-term House of Representative member and Osita Chidoka, a former FRSC Core Marshal and former Minister of Aviation under President Goodluck Jonathan.
