…Members pay maiden visit to Archbishop Obinna

Executive members of Bishop Mark Unegbu Sub-Council of the Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM) Owerri were on a courtesy call at the Maria Assumpta Villa Owerri where they presented their newly carved out Sub-Council to the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Anthony J.V. Obinna, Wednesday March 7.
The Exco members who were also in the company of their newly assigned Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Charles Ikwuegbu said they were on the visit to show their allegiance and solidarity to the Archbishop.
Their address which was presented by their Worthy Grand Knight, Bro. JohnBosco Uhie read in part: We’re here today to meet our Local Ordinary and present our new Sub-Council called Bishop Mark Unegbu Sub-Council of the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria. Let us with humility thank Your Grace for the prompt response to our letter in the appointment of the Chaplain, in the person of Rev. Fr. Charles Ikwuegbu, who immediately assumed the responsibilities entrusted to him. We appreciate your gesture.

Announcing Saturday May 3, 2018 as the intended date for the official launch of the new Sub-Council, the address which revealed how the new body was carved out in November last year from their Mother Sub-Council, Seat of Wisdom, further stated that the choice of Bishop Mark Unegbu as the name of the council came as a way of contributing their own quota to immortalize the pastoral efforts of the late Bishop. “As a pioneer member of the Order, Bishop Mark Unegbu, alongside Bishop Nwedo and Fr.Ojefua were parts and parcels of the KSM foundation.”
The Worthy GK who led the visit that included their Ladies executive on behalf of the entire Sub-Council members commended the Archbishop for his pastoral care. He expressed their dismay over the hardship and political uneasiness in the state, while assuring that their mission of defending the faith and institution of the Church against any sabotage and ridicule remains unchanged.

Most Rev. Obinna who in his reception speech thanked the visiting Knights and Ladies for their humanitarian contribution in the work of evangelization, recalled his cordial relationship with the Order. He said “I’ve a wonderful relationship with you which dates back to my Seminary formation days at Bigard. I’m glad that the relationship continued even into the priesthood while I was at Alvan as Chaplain,” he noted with smiles. In a sequence of interlude as he was exchanging pleasantries, the Archbishop took turn to point out his personal encounter with some of the members. The presence of Bro. Linus Oparaocha, the Sub-Council PRO renewed a fun memory when the prelate identified him as one who on a particular day in those days at Alvan became a foreseer of his present status. The remark elicited some excitements as the Archbishop promised them his continued blessings.
Aside Bro. JohnBosco Uhie, Worthy Grand Knight, those also in the visit included Bro. Antthony Kamalu, Worthy Deputy Grand Knight, Bro. Emmanuel Offurum, Worthy Secretary, Sis. Kata Uhie Vice President (LSM) amongst others.
