Geodora holds 33rd exhibition… Graduates 135

Important dignitaries including parents, relations and well-wishers on 24th March stormed Uzii Primary School Mbaise Road Owerri to witness the 33rd matriculation / graduation ceremony of Geodora Skills Acquisition Centre Owerri

In his welcome address the Chairman Geodora Organization, Nze Dr. George Onwuanibe revealed that GEODORA has graduated over 37,000 young ladies and housewives since its inception and also expanded the scope of its program to admit busy executives, graduates, school leavers and housewives for training in courses like dressmaking and fashion designing, textile arts and crafts, catering, home and hotel management etc.

Nze Onwuanibe commended the graduands  for their outstanding performance and services and also reminded them that it is only hard work, diligence and sincerity of purpose that can take them to greater heights. He advised the matriculants to take a cue from the graduands.

The Chairperson of the occasion, Mrs. Josephine Oluhara Ibeawuchi, Managing Director of JOKEN INDUSTRIES LTD, Lagos, in her address stated that the story of Geodora Skills Acquisition centre “is one from modesty getting to majesty.” She thanked the management, staff and students for providing the required programmes to encourage entrepreneur of all types, revealing that the development of entrepreneurship in Nigeria first manifested during the years of austerity measures.

She thanked God that a place like Geodora Skills Acquisition Centre took the bull by the horn by making sure that skills  aimed at making people self reliant were taught to better the lives and economy of our ladies and country.

“This is not a speech making day but a day to encourage people, not only women; to learn a skill because white collar jobs and lack of creativity have failed us.

The Director of Training, Lady Dora Onwuanibe, in her vote of thanks, said that God has always been blessing them with good weather during their Graduation/ Matriculation ceremony, adding that for over 33 years it has never rained  on the day they choose for the ceremony. She thanked the parents and sponsors for training the granduands especially during this current harsh economic environment.

Lady  Onwuanibe explained that the kind of skills the institution offers is for life. “Nothing like retirement because one continues doing it. “She encouraged everyone to endeavor to learn one skill or the other, your age not with-standing.

The ceremony featured fashion parade, cultural dance and exhibition of various product /dresses produced by the graduating students.

Among dignitaries present at the ceremony included, Msgr. Prof Richard C. Onwuanibe, Dr S. Okechukwu Mezu, Prof Rose Ure Mezu, Dr/Lady Ndubuisi Ogbuokiri, Emeka Onwuanibe, Chief Sir I.K Anyatugo – Key Stone Bank, and Industrial Training Fund Team represented by Anifowoshe Isreal.

Our correspondent said 135 ladies graduated at the occasion while 70 matriculated.
