Rev. Fr. Polycarp Ibekwe celebrated the Eucharist at the solemnization of the Holy Matrimony between Vivian Odochi Uzodinma and Dr. Christian Onyedikachi Iwuagwu at St. Finbarrs Catholic Church Umuahia Abia State on Saturday April 14.

Fr. Ibekwe concelebrated with an avalanche of 30 clerics including: Rev. Frs: Charles Abiamiri, Francis Inweregbu, Innocent Nwarm, Albert Umali, Emmanuel Okoro, Vincent Chimezie, Francis Umeh, Godwin Ubah, Samuel Okereke, Anokwuru Ude, Jude Okafor, Vitalis Onyeama, Emmanuel Okafor, Goodluck Ajaero, Damian Okoye, James Egeonu, Joseph Njoku, Jude Nnoruya, Augustin Arudi, Gabriel Nwaweihe, Clinton Okonkwo, Edwin Nwafor, Innocent Ekegwu, Nicholas Okafor, Christian Okoro, Chukwujike Emmanuel and Isaac Eleweke.

In his homily, Fr. Innocent Ekegwu observed that the convergence of the congregation was for a great celebration where Christ performed the very first miracle turning water into wine in Canaan in Galilee. According to him, matrimony is not meant for boys and girls or the chicken hearted fellows.

He admonished the new couple that their encounter in joining of hands and saying “I do, yes I do” is a complete and serious affair in the nascent era. He cautioned that there is no longer a full time House wife in the trending lexicon of matrimonial bliss as opposed to happenings in the recent past.

According to him, women now marry both their career and family for a better home. He admonished the new couple to be weary of the new social direction which has over-taken the religious and spiritual platform of marriage anchored on understanding, perseverance, communication, prayer and trust in God without which the marriage will not work.

Dr. Christian Onyedikachi Iwuagwu, native of Agbaja, Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State is the first son of Sir Dan Eberechi Iwuagwu, Imo State Secretary of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS). While the bride Miss. Vivian Odochi Uzodimma, native of Obodo Ahiara, Ahiazu-Mbaise LGA of Imo State is daughter of Chief Sir & Lady Leonard Uzodinma.

The homilist enjoined the congregation to pray for the new family so that God enriches them with multiple blessings. The duo were thereafter called for their marital consent and vow which was followed with their solemnization and subsequent confirmation as husband and wife after exchange of rings, the couple signed the dotted lines.

The event was graced by Chief Law Abiamiri, Sir & Lady P.U. Oluigbo, Chief Sir and Lady Leonard Uzodinma parents of the bride, Surv. Uzoh MO. and Chief Irodi Ogbonna among others.

The Leader spoke with Comrade Damian Onyeberechi Iwuagwu, father of the groom. According to him, to God be the glory that he and his wife lived to witness the unique double portion of giving out their daughter Theresa in marriage recently and the tying of the nuptial knot of his son Dr. Christian.

In his vote of thanks, the Parish Priest of St. Finbarr’s Umuahia, Fr. Gabriel Kalu expressed profound gratitude to Fr. Polycarp Ibekwe who flew in from Germany for the solemnization of the matrimony. He also extolled the concelebrants, the new couple, the congregation and the families united in marriage. He prayed God to bless and enrich their new family.
