…As Parish marks feast Day

To ensure that this year’s feast of Sacred Heart remained not just socially enriched but also spiritually impactful, worshippers at the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish Oguta kick-started their feast Day with a historical mass wedding where 28 couples received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, Saturday June 9.

This reporter who witnessed the event noticed how the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Mike Chiagoro, his Assistant, Rev. Fr. Julian Iro and parishioners exuded joy as they continued to thank God for the newly embraced life of the couples who hitherto were living for years without tying the religious nuptial knot.

At the wedding Mass which the Assistant Parish Priest, Fr. Iro presided, the dazzling appearance of parishioners as well as starling performance of the Church choir whose choral rendition of both cultural and religious fitted the event served as glowing tribute to the import and unique sentiments attached to the event.

Fr. Chiagoro while preaching sermon at the Mass thanked God for the “wonderful privilege granted” to the parish. He noted that the joys and celebration mood orchestrated by the event was eloquence testimony shared by even the angels in heaven. “Brothers and sisters, as we rejoice along with these our members who have embraced the opportunity to cement their marital life in godly manner, it’s also good to remind ourselves that the heavens are also celebrating them in love and faith.”

Describing the event as true sign of love, the parish priest expressed delight that each of the couples were still happy to continue with their marital life, since they did not hesitate stepping forward for the sacrament. He however urged them to remain poised in keeping aglow their sentiments of love by tolerating each other’s misgivings.

Adding his voice shortly after the Mass was the Secretary, Feast Day Planning Committee, Mr. Uche Iworisha. The Oguta born CMO member who congratulated the newly wedded blamed the crunch economic situation of the day as reason why most married couples in the area shy away from receiving the sacrament of matrimony. He observed that the feast Day would be rounded off the following day with some other fanfare activities.
