The Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri has denounced alleged corrosion of Imo Civil servants to hold solidarity rally in support of Governor Rocha’s Okorocha’s administration and the governorship ambition of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu.

Speaking after Mass at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri, Sunday June 17, Archbishop called on the congregation to pray for civil servants that they may overcome the intimidation do their job without harassment.

The said, though Nigeria is no longer in military dictatorship, we still have reflexes of military dictatorship, as some civilians governors behave as if they were military governors and that is why we are living in bondage.

He said there is no difference between military dictatorship and civilians “intimidacracy” and advised Nigeria to rise against any form of dictorship in a civilian democracy by saying no to dictatorship in any form.

“All governor is a servant of the people. I cannot force you to do what you don’t want to do and in the same way, governor has no right to force anybody to do what is against your conscience.

He appealed to those who are close to the governor to remind him that he is human not God, and that we’re no longer under military dictatorship.

He said the only time we practice civilian democracy in the present second republic was under the presidency of Alhaji Shehu Shagari and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, regretting that the rest were military dictators masquerading as civilian democrats.

“We still have military dictatorship. We are still trying to win our freedom and we can’t win it without standing on truth and without facing challenges”, he said.

An Owerri based newspaper had reported that the Imo State Government was compelling workers in the state to proceed on solidarity March in support of the Governor’s policies.

“Trumpeta learnt that top Government officials had instructed the permanent secretary and head of service at a recent meeting to ensure that the staff welfare association was directed to mobilize all works to embark on to solidarity show in their uniforms.
