Nathaniel I. NDIOKWERE  Preamble NIGERIA NOT A ZOO, BUT A JUNGLE You come to the above conclusion, without much reflection when you consider absurdities that one finds “Only in Nigeria!”. Just one example: “NIGERIA’S UNITY IS NOT NEGOTIABLE!” And this testament was written and signed by two people, BUHARI and OJUKWU, and this time the venue was not ABURI, in GHANA, but in KATSINA, NORTHERN NIGERIA! The implication of this two-man agreement is that anyone that tampers with the sacred accord, the testament, must be ruthlessly deal with! Wow! Urban Renewal and Governor Okorocha’s Demolition Exercise (2)

Our job is only to hold up the mirror – to tell and show the public what has happened, and then it is the job of the people to decide whether they have faith in their leaders or government.  We are faithful to our profession in telling the truth.  That’s the only faith to which journalists need adhere.   –   Walter Cronkite URBAN RENEWAL Earlier in this write-up we stated that change was the only permanent thing.  The city is like an organism.  As the population of the city increases, infrastructural facilities must be provided and existing ones improved not only…

Aba can be the Japan of West Africa – Odenigbo Lecturer

Soon, all roads will be leading to the Enyimba City for made-in-Aba Products – shoes, handbags, belts, and a lot more. Additionally, the army, police, navy and other uniformed forces can, once again, look to Aba rather than China for their paraphernalia. This is because Aba’s electricity woes is nearly at an end and this has raised hopes that the creative City will bounce back as the industrial hub of the South-East, Nigeria’s success story and Africa’s Japan. This disclosure was made at this year’s Odenigbo lecture  “Nkuzi Odenigbo” delivered by Former Minister of Power Prof. Barth Nnaji, a Professor…

Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra Restoration (3)

Self-Determination and Biafra Restoration The above disclosure ultimately demonstrates that the Biafran freed slaves and the Kings of Calabar never abandoned the name of their nation, which is Biafra; rather chose to sustain it through the name of a new religion they embraced. It also reflects that the Presbyterian missionaries as far back as 1846 were in support of maintaining and sustaining the name of the nation – Biafra where they came to propagate and plant the new faith with the Biafran freed slaves. Most importantly, this goes to corroborate the more the fact that the Indigenous People of Biafra…

THE AFRICAN ORIGIN OF GREEK PHILOSOPHY: An Exercise in Afrocentrism

The very title of this book is incongruous with the knowledge planted in my head by my culture and education. I was taught throughout my schooling that Greece was the birthplace of western civilization and that the stellar Greek thinkers – Socrates, Plato and Aristotle – were the founding fathers of philosophy. As I grew up and questioned many other ingrained cultural assumptions, it never occurred to me to probe this foundational one – the notion was too firmly rooted. After reading this book, I share some of author Father Onyewuenyi’s righteous indignation that “…Western powers have deprived the African…
