  The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has denied threatening to make Lagos unbearable for the Igbo in the state. A statement signed by Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, the Opeoluwa of Lagos, quoted the monarch as acknowledging the contributions of the Igbo to the economy of the state. Supreme Court upholds Obiano’s election

The Supreme Court in a unanimous judgment yesterday threw out the multiple appeals challenging the election of Governor Wille Obiano of Anambra State for lack of merits. Affirming the concurrent decisions of the lower courts, the Supreme Court held that the appellants in the appeals, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Chris Ngige, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Tony Nwoye, failed to prove that the alleged substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Acts affected the outcome of the election.
