The militant group has overrun two villages in the Kirkuk province, forcing thousands to flee their homes. The Holy Father addressed the reports of violence in…

Fathers, Take Up Your Responsibilities

The mass to mark the 2013 father’s day was celebrated at St John Bosco’s Catholic Church Owu  in Ikeduru LGA by the Parish Priest, Rev.Fr. Stanley Ekwerike. Delivering a homily, Fr Ekwerike called on fathers to be real Christians both in words and in action. Fr Ekwerike condemned the attitudes of indifference, cowardice and fear which sometimes trivialize the role of the fathers in today’s society. He noted that most crisis in today’s society is because the fathers have relegated themselves to the background making themselves to play second fiddle in families. The Parish Priest thus invited fathers to assume…

PARENTS AS EDUCATORS

In the sixties and seventies, parents took their role of first teachers of their children very seriously because they realized that the inculcation of the right societal values in them was a unique and divine mandate in which they cannot afford to fail.  By extension, practically every adult around took it as their duty to promptly call to order any derailing child.  The inculcation of societal values, creation of awareness of acceptable norms, avoidance of taboos, sowing of the seed of hard work, patriotism, fear of God, respect for elders and civic responsibilities, all started from cradle with parents as…
