Nigerian bishops begin Ad Limina visit to Rome

The first group of Catholic bishops of Nigeria shortly after arriving Rome last week

  The first group of the Catholic bishops of Nigeria arrived Rome last week on Ad Limina Visit to the Holy Father, Pope Francis. The bishops who arrived Rome April 14 will meet with the pope on Thursday, April 26 when the second group of bishops must have arrived. According to Rev. Fr. Ralph Madu, Secretary General, Catholic Secretariate of Nigeria (CSN), the first group will round-off on April 28 while the second group will finish on May 5. Most Rev. Catholic Bishops Condemn Kano Musque Bombing

Following last Friday’s bomb blast in Kano, which claimed several lives’, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), has said the carnage must stop. This is even as it said “no amount of intimidation can stop us from going about our normal duties and worshipping our God in our own country”. Pope appoints Auxiliary Bishop for Awka Diocese

His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Rev Msgr Jonas Benson as the Auxilliary Bishop  Diocese of Awka.   This is contained in a Press Release issued by Very Rev.  Fr. Ralph Madu, Secretary General Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria.   Rt. Rev Msgr Jonas Benson Okoye at present is the Judicial Vicar of Awka Diocese and Parish Priest of Saint Mary’s Parish Awka.
