IMSUTH Orlu shutdown as crisis deepens

The Medical and Health Workers Union, the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) in collaboration with the Association of Resident Doctors being the strong unions in the Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH) Orlu on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 shutdown all the activities in the hospital by embarking on indefinite strike after the expiration of the deadline given to the management to clear their five months salary arrears. The unions had three weeks ago issued a 21-day ultimatum to the management, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities in the state to clear their salary arrears and allowances….

IMSUTH Suspends work over unpaid allowances

Workers of Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Orlu on Monday February 1, 2016 embarked on a three-day suspension of work as a result of two mouths salaries and 15 months allowances owed them by the state government. Last week, Imo people watched with disgust as police descended on innocent medical students, on a peaceful protest and dispersed them with painful tear gas. The students, carrying only placards and numbering about 300, were making their way to the Government House before the police aggressively stopped them with an unwarranted assault. Why such a non-violent protest, especially one of which the police had prior knowledge, should attract such insensitivity is puzzling.   The Organized Labour, Imo State has given the State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorochas, conditions to be met by the State Government to pave way for negotiation between the State Government and Organized Labour.   The staff of Imo State University Teaching Hospital Orlu was on Monday thrown into pandemonium following the release of over 241 names of the workers in the hospital who will undergo query with reason of being absent on their duty post. IMSUTH staff applauds Okorocha over new Chief Medical Director’s appointment

The State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has appointed Dr. Frederick Anolue as the new Chief Medical Director, Imo State University Training Hospital Orlu and Mrs. Caroline Amadi as Chairman of Board of Directors.  The two appointees had since resumed duties along with the new Accountant for the institution. Dr. Anolue succeeded the former Acting CMD, Dr. Chijioke Nzewuihe while Mrs. Caroline Amadi took over from Dr. Vin Udokwu. Kidnapers abduct medical student in Imo

Gunmen believed to be kidnappers stormed the Imo State University Teachisng Hospital (IMSUTH), Umuna Orlu, last Sunday and snatched a 700-level medical student.. The affected student was said to be scaling the staircase hostel at IMSUTH when the gunmen who trailed her to her institution, ordered her to follow them at gun point. Sources said the gunmen beat the security man attached to the teaching hospital blue and black before bolting with the student, said to be married. The Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has appointed Dr. Fredrick Anoele as the new Chief Medical Director of Imo State University Teaching Hospital Orlu and Mrs. Caroline Amadi as the Board Chairman respectively  the two appointees have since assumed duties. Nursing mothers go into hiding in Imo – As kidnappers target babies, shoot parents of victims

Families with new born babies in Imo State now live in fear, as the incidence of abduction of such babies and shooting of parents continues to rise. The latest incident was that of five-month-old Chidiogu, daughter of Mr. Kingsley Igwegbe and Mrs. Ugochi Igwegbu of Umuzike Orlu, who was snatched at gun point from her mother, as the woman was about to enter the family house.  They had shot Mrs. Igwegbe on the thigh.  Consequently, she is now lying critically ill at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital  IMSUTH Orlu while the whereabouts of the abducted baby remains unknown. IMSUTH: Best graduating medical student dedicates award to souls in purgatory

A young medical doctor, Chiedozie Ikwu, who emerged the Best Overall Graduating Student of the Fifth Set of Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH) doctors, has dedicated the coveted award to souls in purgatory.
