Anambra Election: Congratulations INEC and Ndi Anambra

The long-awaited and hipped Anambra State elections have come and gone, peacefully without even as much as a single gunshot being fired; without any loss of life. Thanks to God! We congratulate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Governor Willie Obiano who won a second term, despite all odds. Congratulations are also due to all the contestants who fought bravely especially those of them who accepted defeat like good sportsmen and women. In every contest, there must be winners and losers. It is not necessarily the winning or losing that is important but,…

IPOB reacts to Anambra election

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has hailed the people of Anambra State for “boycotting” the governorship election in the state. Speaking on the alleged low turnout that greeted the elections, spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement attributed the development to their directive. “IPOB wants to use this opportunity to congratulate Biafrans particularly the people of Anambra State for obeying the order of IPOB and our leader Mazi Nnamdi who has been abducted since 14th September 2017 in today’s election. “The people of Anambra State have shown the whole world that they are the first sons…

The Emergence and Proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra

The Emergence and Proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra

The aggravation of hostility between the federal government and the popular liberation organization, INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA  seeking a referendum by peaceful means, did not come as a surprise to anyone. Indeed one of the cardinal principles of the Organization, remains non violence. Over the years, successive Nigerian governments have repeatedly stated that the territorial integrity of Nigeria is not negotiable. This by implication means that no nation within the Nation state can exit while the structural imbalances , corrupt leadership, and regional marginalisation  remain intolerable. This is bound to create tension and dissent and that is exactly what happened…

Biafra: Nigeria is standing before the Red Sea – Bishop Kukah

The Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Most Rev. Matthew Kukah, has reacted to the agitation for an independent state of Biafra led by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. The cleric alluded to one of Biblical stories of the Israelites to describe the question of Nigeria’s unity. According to him, the situation in Nigeria can be likened to when the Israelites stood before the Red Sea during their exit from captivity. He said: “We cannot recover territory from Boko Haram only to surrender it to others; we are Nigeria and Nigeria will continue to…

The Kaduna Declaration: Igbo must leave the North Full text of Northern Youth Declaration

THE KADUNA DECLARATION BEING A JOINT POSITION PAPER ISSUED BY THE AREWA CITIZENS ACTION FOR CHANGE, AREWA YOUTH CONSULTATIVE FORUM, AREWA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION, AREWA STUDENTS FORUM AND NORTHERN EMANCIPATION NETWORK ON THE IGBO PERSISTENCE FOR SECESSION    PREAMBLE The persistence for the actualization of Biafra by the unruly Igbo of South-Eastern Nigeria has lately assumed another alarming twist which involved the forceful lockdown of activities and denial of other people’s right to free movement in the South-East by the rebel Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its overt and covert sponsors. This latest action and similar confrontational conducts which…

Northern Youths threaten Ndigbo … Northern Governors Forum, Ohaneze, MASOB, others react

The impudent and blood-thirsty Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY), has on Tuesday, given Ndigbo living in the North three months to leave the region. They also ordered northerners living in the South East to do the same. This was contained in their release named “Kaduna Declaration” after a joint meeting held at Arewa House in Kaduna. But their unprovoked threat and assault has been widely condemned.   According to the declaration read to the media by one Mallam Abdulazeez Suleiman, the warning was a reaction to the successful sit-at-home protest ordered by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and observed…

Kanu trial: Prosecution suffers setback over bias claims

The prosecution of leader of separatist movement Indigenous People of Biafra suffered a major setback Monday when a judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja Justice John Tsoho returned his case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court Justice Ibrahim Auta for reassignment. This comes after the judge washed his hands off the case on the strength of a petition against him before the National Judicial Council NJC by the detained Director of Radio Biafra, accusing him of bias. Justice Tsoho is the second judge from the bench of the Federal High Court accused by Kanu of bias in the…

IPOB to MEND: We didn’t beg you to negotiate release of Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) did not have its mandate to negotiate the release of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and other members. IPOB described the purported negotiation between MEND and the Federal Government as a “kangaroo agreement and a jamboree.” A statement from the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful said the group only accepted the unconditional release of its leaders, insisting that  only Kanu can negotiate on behalf of the group. The group vowed not to renounce the struggle for the restoration of Biafra state….

Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra Restoration (4)

This is a journey of those who have decided to die for what they believe in. Surprising but commendable! Regrettably, a considerable number of IPOB peaceful protesters have been shot dead and many others seriously injured. Mention could be made of the 21year old young girl, Nkeiruka Ikeanyionwu shot dead at Onitsha and some IPOB unarmed peaceful protesters shot dead at Aba while praying on the 9th of February 2016 at a Secondary School ground. She was a student of Federal College of Education Umunze Anambra State. Reacting to the tragedies the IPOB unarmed peaceful protesters are experiencing from the…

Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra Restoration (3)

Self-Determination and Biafra Restoration The above disclosure ultimately demonstrates that the Biafran freed slaves and the Kings of Calabar never abandoned the name of their nation, which is Biafra; rather chose to sustain it through the name of a new religion they embraced. It also reflects that the Presbyterian missionaries as far back as 1846 were in support of maintaining and sustaining the name of the nation – Biafra where they came to propagate and plant the new faith with the Biafran freed slaves. Most importantly, this goes to corroborate the more the fact that the Indigenous People of Biafra…

Kukah to Buhari: Dialogue with Kanu, fellow Pro-Biafra Activists

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, says pro-Biafra activists are entitled to their agitation and should not be crucified for it. He also advised the Federal Government to look at the positive side of Nnamdi Kanu, a leader of the pro-Biafra movement and promoter of Radio Biafra now in detention, and draw him closer rather that prosecuting him. According to Kukah, since every Nigerian has the right to pursue his or her goal in life, the ongoing agitation for Biafra is legitimate. Speaking on the topic: “The Pursuit of Happiness: Some Thoughts On Human Rights, Freedom And Justice…

Biafra: Court Orders DSS to Produce Nnamdi Kanu Nov 23

The Magistrate Court 1 sitting in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Service (DSS) to produce the Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu,  before next week Monday. The Chief Magistrate Shauibu Usman gave the order on Wednesday following the absence of the accused in court when the trial was to commence. Usman noted that the DSS had refused to bring Kanu to court for the second time despite another order made on October 23 to that effect. He therefore ordered the agency to bring the accused unfailingly before the court…

Open letter to Nnamdi Kanu

By Adiele Ephraim Sometime in May 2014, I was at Lekki Beach, a place we like to call CLASS OF WIZARDS or CLASS for short. It’s a place where young men and sometimes women come to chill out and share ideas on every topic there is to discuss. On this day, one class member, Celestine seemed hyper happy. He kept smiling for no apparent reason. This prompted the rest of the class to ask what the happiness was about. Soon enough he began telling us about Radio Biafra, gave us the dial and started telling us about a demonstration scheduled…

Rejoinder| Re: “Where Radio Biafra got it wrong”

Our attention has been drawn to the above caption credited to our revered Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Anthony Obinna published back page in the 19th edition of The Leader, May 10, 2015 and wish to associate ourselves hook, line and sinker by endorsing our seal of blessing with the views expressed by the revered cleric. In the said publication, Nnamdi Kanu was quoted by implication as questioning the Deity of Jesus Christ and claiming the cornerstone on which the indigenous people of Biafra was founded. As provocative or vexatious as his hypothesis are, we would not have…
