Gunmen abduct Catholic priest in Ekiti

  A Catholic priest, in Ekiti Diocese, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Akingbade, has been kidnapped by gunmen in Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti State. It was gathered that the abductors stormed the residence of the priest, who is the Parish Priest of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Ido-Ekiti, between 7.30pm and 8pm on Tuesday, June 9. The priest, a legal practitioner, is also the Assistant Director, Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the church in the diocese. The bishop of the diocese, Most Rev. Catholics Hold Re-consecration Prayer at Assumpta after botched Imo Guber Forum Violence

Thousands of Catholics in the Owerri Archdiocese gathered in sober reflection, last Friday, beginning from 3p.m. at the Obiri Odenigbo to re-consecrate the Assumpta Cathedral and ask God for forgiveness. This followed the previous week’s disturbance and unexpected violence at the Cathedral’s Obiri Odenigbo, venue of the botched gubernatorial debate.
