In the First Reading today Moses is irresistibly attracted to the strange sight of the burning bush. He senses the presence of God and draws closer. But, just before he enters, God stops him: “Take off your shoes, for the place on which you stand is holy ground” (Ex. 3:5) being a member of the fallen human race, Moses needed to be purified in order to approach the presence of God. He needed to take off the shoes of sin and its effects in order to be restored to divine fellowship. That way it would be unquestionably clear to him…
