You won’t stop killer- Herdsmen

– Catholic Bishops, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, tell Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari is not at all serious about ending the killings in the country or punishing those involved.  Killer-Fulani – herdsmen are taking many lives across the country, particularly in Benue, and the Federal Government is dilly-dallying about it. That is why Catholic Bishops, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Afenifere Yoruba and former Vice President Abubakar Atiku do not believe what President Buhari said on Democracy Day, concerning the killer-herdsmen. Buhari had said the Federal Government would deal with the killer- herdsmen and their sponsors but the groups said it is lip service. The Catholic…

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural body of the Igbo, has called for the prosecution of soldiers involved in an alleged extra-judicial killing of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra during the recent Operation Python Dance in the South-East. The President General of Ohanaeze, Chief Nnia Nwodo, said the organisation had raised the issue with the leadership of the Nigerian Army. The British government has warned against the planning or execution of a coup in Nigeria by soldiers as a way of changing government insisting it will not support such undemocratic process. There was concern that some soldiers were being approached by politicians on how to carry out a coup and this concern was strengthened by Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai’s warning to soldiers not to mix with politicians. Osu, Ume, Diala practice so Abhorent – Royal Father

More abominations are being committed in Igbo land now than ever, yet no one is being punished. You cannot hold anyone’s neck to the fire forever because of the sins of his fathers, especially if those sins are now being committed with impunity. This is basically the argument of His Royal Highness, Eze. Dr. Lucky Okoro, Okoroagbara V of Eziobodo Kingdom and Ezeoha III of Eziobodo Autonomous Community, as he added his voice to the clarion call for Ndigbo to abolish the obnoxious Osu Caste system. “It is agonising to know that even with the proliferation of churches and aggressive…

Demolition of Oshodi Market in bad faith – Ohanaeze Youths

The Youth Wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said that the demolition of Oshodi market, Lagos by the Lagos State government was in bad faith and targeted at the Ndigbo doing business in the state. In a statement by the National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the…

Kukah to Buhari: Dialogue with Kanu, fellow Pro-Biafra Activists

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, says pro-Biafra activists are entitled to their agitation and should not be crucified for it. He also advised the Federal Government to look at the positive side of Nnamdi Kanu, a leader of the pro-Biafra movement and promoter of Radio Biafra now in detention, and draw him closer rather that prosecuting him. According to Kukah, since every Nigerian has the right to pursue his or her goal in life, the ongoing agitation for Biafra is legitimate. Speaking on the topic: “The Pursuit of Happiness: Some Thoughts On Human Rights, Freedom And Justice…

National Confab – Are Ndigbo Ready?

As the drums continue to beat louder and faster for the National conference, strong signals are emerging as to who the players and the spectators are likely to be at the Confab. Emerging reports suggest that the Hausa/Fulani north are not quite ready neither are they fully in support of a national conference which is likely to question the rights and privileges they enjoy under the present system. However the Arewa joint body continues to meet and dialogue in the interest of the north. Ndigbo on their part appear to be dilly-dallying over leadership issues and who their spokespersons should…
