Killings: Prayer- Protest Holds June 5 in Owerri

  The Prayer-Protest in solidarity with victims of Benue State massacre and other security challenges, holds on Tuesday June 5, in Owerri Archdiocese. The protest earlier scheduled for May 22, 2018 was postponed due to security concerns. The programme begins with Rosary Procession at 8am from Villa Maria, along Wetheral Road, passing through Government House Roundabout, through Assumpta Avenue to Maria Assumpta Cathedral where the procession will be concluded with Holy Mass at 12 noon. The faithful are expected to dress in their various group uniform.

  Friday November 17, 2017 was a day of joy for the inmates of the motherless Babies Home Emekuku, run by the congregation of the Holy Child Jesus, as the Owerri Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women organization (OACCWO) paid them a charity visit. The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri has lost a priest,  Rev. Fr. Ambrose Chijike Eburuche, aged 34. A native of Obokwe, Obettiti, Nguru, in Aboh Mbaise LGA Imo State, Fr. Ambrose died in his sleep in the early hours of Tuesday October 3 , 2017. Ordained priest on August 7, 2015, Fr Ambrose was serving as curate at St. Mark’s Catholic Parish, New Owerri. The Knights and Ladies of St. Mulumba Owerri Archdiocese stormed the impressive Holy Cross Catholic Church Aladinma Owerri to celebrate the feast of St. Mulumba.   The church commemorates the feast of the 22 martyrs of Uganda, including St. Matthias Kalemba Mulumba, every June 3. The martyrs were burnt alive or tortured to death in 1886 by Mwanga 11, the Kabaka of Buganda because they converted to Christianity and could therefore not acquiesce to the impure desires of King Mwanga. The death has been announced of Mr. Eddy Anyanwu of Heartland FM (Radio Nigeria) Owerri.
