Avoid another Otokoto riot – Nde Owere tell Imo Governor

Moving Eke-Ukwu Owere market, a traditional landmark of the Owerri people, may not be a good idea and may spark off another mayhem on the scale of the Otokoto riots of 1996. Confronting the Menace of Illegal Motor Parks in Owerri

The menace of illegal motor parks and unauthorized loading of commuters in strategic locations such as Maria Assumpta Cathedral roundabout, Douglas road, Orlu and Mbaise roads has become alarmingly chaotic and intractable.  Worrisome also is the impunity with which unscrupulous Landlords and illegal park operators convert almost every available space for this nefarious purpose. In addition to avoidable traffic issues, the practice contributes to worsening sanitation, serious security challenges as most undesirable elements still hibernate around them to perpetrate crimes of all sorts. Most worrisome is that the entire situation is completely at variance with the 2nd term developmental…

It is better late than never. This is true with the ongoing demolition and clean up exercise by the Imo State government and the people are happy. Last week, the government, under a new policy called Imo My Pride sent caterpillars and bulldozers, roaring in various parts of Owerri, pulling down illegal structures…

The need to Vote for Ernest Ibejiako (Nwandaa) to Represent Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Abuja

There is a popular Marxism that the result of hard work is more work.  When people distinguish themselves in service wherever they hold position, they are rewarded with more positions of authority to continue with their good works.  So it is in politics. However, due to some unconscious political calculations, some leaders who have championed the expectations of their electorates to success have always mistakenly been denied the opportunity to bring their political service to a logical conclusion. Chief Ernest Ibejiako was a victim of this circumstance.  Admittedly, no Federal Legislator past or present in Owerri, Federal Constituency has measured…
