  Prof. Ukachukwu Aloysius Awuzie hails from Umuzike in Orlu L.G.A of Imo State. He had his Primary School Education at St. Martins Primary School Owerri –Ebeiri where he came out with DISTINCTION in his First School Leaving Certificate in 1962. He attended Secondary School at Bishop Shanahan College, Orlu and had Division One Distinction, 1970. History was made in Imo State University, Owerri on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 as the Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Arc. Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, fnia, was decorated by the Africa CHOGM College of Higher Institutions as a fellow of Millennium Development Leadership for Rights.   Presenting the fellowship certificate on behalf of the Institute, the Director, Arc. Prof. Awuzie calls for Catholic University in Orlu

The Vice-Chancellor of the Imo State University, Owerri, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie has called for the establishment of a Catholic University in Orlu Diocese, Imo State. Speaking during an award ceremony organized by the Orlu Diocesan Laity Council at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Orlu, Prof. Awuzie said the establishment of a Catholic University in Orlu will help absorb thousands of Imo State candidates who could not be admitted into the Imo State University Owerri and the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO).
