Killings: Prayer- Protest Holds June 5 in Owerri

  The Prayer-Protest in solidarity with victims of Benue State massacre and other security challenges, holds on Tuesday June 5, in Owerri Archdiocese. The protest earlier scheduled for May 22, 2018 was postponed due to security concerns. The programme begins with Rosary Procession at 8am from Villa Maria, along Wetheral Road, passing through Government House Roundabout, through Assumpta Avenue to Maria Assumpta Cathedral where the procession will be concluded with Holy Mass at 12 noon. The faithful are expected to dress in their various group uniform.

Catholics in Owerri, the Imo State capital, including the clergy, religious and lay faithful, last Tuesday (September 20, 2016) held a prayer rally to solicit God’s blessings for peace in the world, Nigeria and Imo State. Rumours that the Catholic Church was planning  what they called a ‘Black Mass’ as a form of spiritual protest against certain government officials has been described as false and misleading.
