In the first consistory that he has convened, Pope Francis has announced that the canonization of Blessed John Paul II and Blessed John XXIII will be held on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 in Rome. During his return trip from World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, the Holy Father indicated Divine Mercy Sunday, which falls on the same day, as a possible date. Family of six die in fire explosion in PH

Tragedy struck in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when a fire explosion claimed the lives of a couple and their four children while sleeping. Sunday Sun learnt the fire incident, which cause was yet to be ascertained at press time, occurred about 1.45am. Head of the family was said to be a commercial taxi driver while his wife was a petty trader. Boko Haram kills 11 in Damaturu, 22 in Maiduguri

Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday, returned to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital almost nine months after the last attack, killing seven students and two teachers, Military authority also said three of the attackers were gunned down.
