Hon Pat-Ekeji identifies with Okada riders -Distributes 500 sets of rain-coat
Ngozi Pat-Ekeji, member representing Aboh Mbaise in the Imo State House of Assembly on Friday, May 10, 2013 distributed about 500 sets of rain-coat outfits to all okada riders in Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State.
Speaking during the hand-over event at Community Primary School Hall Umuopara Nguru Mbaise, Hon. Pat-Ekeji, who is also the Minority Leader in the Imo House of Assembly (IMHA), reminded the members of Okada Riders Association that the occasion was part of her effort to deliver on her election promises to the people of Aboh Mbaise State Constituency. “My brothers, I have come to tell you that I have not forgotten you. The role you played and your support during the last election must not go unnoticed. So I have come to identify with you in order to fulfill some of our promises”. She further remarked that it has been her wish to use her good office in touching peoples’ lives thereby ameliorating the sufferings and hardships in the society. “The nature of your job as okada riders, she continued moved me towards this direction. As you go about your normal business, especially during rainy season, I thought it wise to help in equipping you against cold. That’s why I have chosen the idea of rain coat and hoping that it will go a long way in helping your business. In conclusion, the Imo state lawmaker advised them to remain law-abiding and more courteous while plying the major roads.
Receiving the gift items on behalf of the association, Mr. Luke Ugoh expressed his heartfelt joy for the event. He observed that the gesture was “an immense recognition”, not only on Okada Riders but also on the entire people of Aboh Mbaise. He thanked Pat-Ekeji for deeming it necessary, in keeping faith with her electoral promises and further pledged their continued support for the honourable.
Earlier in his reaction, Nze Ikwu Anselm, PDP Chairman Aboh Mbaise, commended the leadership of the association for their diligent in piloting the affairs of such a union like Okada Riders. He also commended their spirit of patriotism and maturity during the election period and urged them to sustain the tempo.
Nze Anselm further extolled the qualities of Hon. Pat-Ekeji as a God-fearing mother whom he said was poised in making people of Aboh Mbaise feel the dividends of democracy. He highlighted some of her achievements since in office to include: training of some youths in different skills, distribution of 33 motorcycles to some youths, purchase of a 14-seater bus to Catholic Youths Organization, Ahiara Diocese and making bank loans available to some women.
Some Aboh Mbaise political kingpins who were at the occasion included: Ward Chairmen, Ezinne Mgbeahuruike, Women Leader PDP and Barr. Kennedy Abara, PA to Hon. Pat-Ekeji.
