Fr. Akamadu advises Christians to show compassion to the less privileged
Christians have been advised to show compassion to the down-trodden in society.
Rev. Fr. Chukwunonyerem Akamadu gave this advice in a sermon at St. Mark’s Parish, New Owerri, June 9.
Reflecting on the Readings of the day, the priest further advised Christians not to wait until an indigent neighbor knocks on their door, stressing that Elijah showed compassion to the widow whose son died and restored him to life.
Fr. Akamadu who is Dean, Assumpta Minor Seminary Naze highlighted the ordeals widows, orphans and others who have become “endangered species” in our communities, and advised Christians to pay attention to their plights and miseries.
“We should go out of our way to reach out to them with what we have no matter how small”, he further preached, adding that such attention will ameliorate their condition and make them feel that they are not abandoned by their fellow Christians.
Our reporter said the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of the parish unveiled the altar of the new church as part of activities marking their Father’s Day while the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) formally presented a brand new bus they purchased recently.
