Mr. & Mrs. Arua Uduma with the triplets

The story of Mr. Arua and Mrs. Ugonma Uduma is one of mixed feelings after the safe delivery of their triplets (all boys) on Monday, June 24 at the famous ChineduHospital in Ubomiri, Mbaitoli LGA.  The Udumas who hail from Afikpo South LGA in EbonyiState have lived in Owerri, Imo state since the past ten years.  Before the arrival of the triples, they had three girls and said they prayed fervently for a male child.  As if God was over generous with their request, He gave them not one boy, not even two, but three boys at the same time.  For the Udumas therefore, the triplets have almost  become a burden of blessing.

In a telephone chat with Mr. Uduma Arua, the father of the triplets, the tone in his voice was indeed that of suppressed joy.  He described himself as a one-time successful business man until he met his misfortune in the hands of ENTRACCO three months ago.  Mr. Uduma said he was hawking bed sheets in the streets of Owerri and was flourishing until the ENTRACCO confiscated his goods and burnt them up without compensation.  He said that his wife learnt hair dressing but could not establish her own business for lack of sufficient funds.  Since after the confiscation of his goods, Mr. Uduma noted he has no alternative than to resort to menial jobs like assisting those who build houses for peanuts.

Asked whether he was not happy at the birth of the children, the father of the June triplets said he prayed for a male child but never expected they would come three at a time.  He lamented that the kids came at a time he lacked the required income for the family.  He narrated how difficult it was for him to even pay the school fees of his older children whom he maintained, are at the brink of being thrown out of school at the moment.

Mr. Uduma called on the government and good spirited individuals in ImoState and beyond to assist him in taking care of the triplets.  He confessed that they are God’s gifts and blessings that must be accepted in good faith.  The burden, according to him is heavy and can only be alleviated by assistance from kind-hearted and loving individuals.  Mr. Uduma can be contacted on 07062473370.
