Catholics in Nguru Ngor, Ngor-okpala Local Government Area on Saturday July 27th 2013 rolled out drums to celebrate the 10 years of priestly ordination of Rev.Fr Ikem C.Ogugua.

Declaring the ceremony open, the Parish Priest and celebrant thanked and welcomed all present. He noted that the gathering was principally in appreciation and thanksgiving to God for the gift of the priesthood.

In the homily, Rev.Fr Desmond Okereke thanked God for the life of all present especially that of Rev.Fr Ikem Ogugua, he prayed for more divine grace, favour and wisdom to be bestowed on the celebrant to enable him do more in His vineyard. The clergman urged Christians to always abide by the laws and commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ and keep to the promises he made to God.

Reflecting on the gospel, Fr Okereke said that the weeds are those who do not abide by the commandment of God, while the maize are those who do. He made it known to the people that on the last day, everyone will be rewarded according to his work on earth. He enjoined the people that God has given sinners time to repent and be called sons of God. Fr. Okereke thanked God for the life he gave to the celebrant saying that for the seven months he had lived with him, he is zealous, hardworking, dedicated and in fact a workaholic who does everything humanly possible to see that the church grows spiritually. He said that Fr. Ikem is ready to sacrifice his happiness for others and prayed God to bless him with more years.

Filled with joy and excitement, Fr Ikem thanked his parishioners, relatives, friends and well-wishers who came to celebrate with him. he thanked the Rev. Fathers and Sisters present, the parish council members and the management and students of St Theresa’s nursery and primary school Nguru.

Speaking with the leader, Miss Uchechi Njoku stated that Fr. Ikem is Sociable, Friendly to all around him, respectful and a wonderful spiritual director who is loved by all. She said it has been a delight working with him.

Highpoints of the occasion was the cutting of the  anniversary cake by Fr. Ikem, and  the Ijele masquerade dance from Anambra that thrilled the occasion.
