KSM Mbaise Sub-Council initiates 19

- As Sir Basil Emeka Iwu looks forward to defending the Church

Left to Right Sir & Lady Modestus Nwanna, Sir Lady Justus O. NduGOZIE UKASOANYA – The thanksgiving Mass that preceded the initiation of 19 members into the Order of Knights of St. Mulumba, Mbaise Sub-Council was held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Maria Mater Ecclesiae Cathedral, Ahiara Mbaise.

The Mass which was well attended by the Knights and Ladies of St. Mulumba as well as family members and well-wishers of the newly initiated was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Godson Okoro, the Ahiara Diocesan Chancellor.

During his homily, Fr. Okoro noted that the essence of human existence is to serve God and this obligation must be accomplished through candid and cordial relationship between man and his fellowmen here on earth.  He said that the yardstick to measure man’s closeness with God is through his relationship with his neighbour.  “Without peaceful co-existence with one another, all human endeavours, struggles and wealth would become futile before God”, the homilist averred.

Reflecting on the gospel passage where Christ bemoaned against avarice, Fr. Okoro advised on the need to guard against inordinate ambition of earthly possessions, saying that they are traits which could only incite the spirit into an insatiable accumulation of material things.  Insatiability, he said, makes one avaricious and perpetually blind to the needs of his fellowmen.

Turning to the newly initiated, Fr. Okoro said the “Church has elevated you through the Order of Knighthood”.  He charged them to make serving God their watchword and distinguish themselves as apostles of peace and justice.

In appreciation, Bro. Anthony Agbakwuru, Ahiara Liaison Grand Knight commended the decision of the diocese for accepting to celebrate the event at the Cathedral Church.  He also congratulated the new members for their availability and reminded them that adherence to the rules and regulations of the Order and that of the Church will be beneficial to their spiritual growth.

In a brief chart with one of the newly initiated, Sir Basil Emeka Iwu, Acting Director of Investigation, Imo State Board of Internal Revenue, thanked God for the honour done them.  Sir Basil, whose wife Lady Barr. Ngozi Iwu, CWO President, St. Mark’s Parish,New Owerri was beaming with smiles said with this “recognition and elevation”, he and his household have been entrusted with more responsibilities to stand in defence of the Church.  He therefore prayed God to give them the strength to discharge their duties creditably well.

Among the initiated were Bros. Justus Ndu, Michael Ekechukwu  and Modestus Nwanne.
