Members of Imo State Chapter of Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), elected new executives of the party on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the party secretariat in Owerri.

The political gathering was well attended by party faithful who converged from the 27Local Government Areas in Imo State.  A high powered delegation from the National Secretariat in Abuja, led by the National Treasurer, Alhaji Musa Takin and Hon. Manga S. Asha, the National Secretary of the party graced the event.

The event was presided over by Sir M.A. Iroegbu, South-East Zonal Chairman and Chief Joseph Odonye.

In an address at the occasion, Leader of the party in Imo State, Nze Nwokeafor Ikechukwu (Worthy) said that time has come for the youths in Imo State and Nigeria at large to take their destiny in their own hands and aspire for leadership positions in the country.

He urged the members of ACD in Imo state to be loyal and steadfast so as to help accelerate development of the state as their desire is to eradicate poverty in the state through judicious use of state resources if the party is elected into office come 2015.

Nze Nwokeafor Ikechukwu (Worthy), enjoined the party members to shun anti-party activities and be committed to the struggle in ensuring that the party strategize so as to win in the next general elections.

Nze Herbert Osuagwu was elected the State Chairman of the party with Chief Chris Okoroji as his deputy.  Other elected officers include Chief Chikwe Onyema, Secretary, Hon. Ukaoma Onyekwere Donald, Financial Secretary and Mrs. Fidelia Odoemena, Woman Leader.

Alhaji Yusuf Buba, the National Chairman of ACD in a goodwill message, expressed his profound happiness with the turnout of people and the hitch-free congress by the organizers.

He expressed delight with the level of awareness of the party in Imo State.  When he shouted the slogan of ACD “Democracy for ever”, “Bye-bye to poverty” rented the air.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman of the party, Nze Herbert Osuagwu postulated that “today is a dawn of a new era in Imo State.

He enjoined all Imolites to embrace the ACD as a party which has come to propagate the lofty democratic ideals propounded for the benefit of the people.

He urged all who are disappointed with the present dispensation to join ACD where justice, equity, peace and development are sacrosanct.
