Bus, Okada in head-on collision at Ohaji – 2 female passengers hospitalized
Two female passengers of a commercial motorcycle (a.k.a. okada/inaga) were on Saturday, 12/10/13 hospitalized as a result of the injuries they sustained when the motorbike conveying them had a head-on collusion with a Nissan Sunny bus at Obogwe in Umunwaku Autonomous Community along the Avu/Adapalm Road in the Ohaji/Egbema LGA.
Our correspondent, Paschal Amaghere who arrived at the scene few minutes after the accident occurred, reported that both the bus driver and the commercial motorcyclist blamed each other for what happened.
While the bus driver, Mr. Theophilus Nwosu claimed that his head lamps were on, everything in his car was sound and that he was driving gently, when the motorbike suddenly hit his car face to face. He said that he did not observe any light from the motorcycle. According to him, the motorbike had neither a head lamp nor trafficator.
On his own part, the commercial motorcyclist, Master Chijioke Amuzie, claimed that he switched on all necessary lights of his motorcycle and that he had in fact charged all the bulbs of the motorcycle the previous day to enable him hustle for passengers the next day being Sunday.
Our correspondent later visited the St. Anthony’s Hospital, where the two injured girl-passengers were taken for treatment.
All those who witnessed the ugly scene continued to give thanks to God for His mercies since no life was lost.
