The Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mrs. Clotilda C. Obinna made the commendation during a one-day workshop for the focal persons in Owerri.

Mrs. Obinna also advised focal persons to encourage widows to form cooperatives because, according to her, this will help them benefit from government assistance and development partners.

In a lecture, a retired Director of Cooperatives in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. T.I. Owulezi gave them conditions for successful cooperative organization and encouraged the focal persons to actualize the cooperative formation for widows.

A lecturer at Imo State University, Dr. Mrs. Rose Isiozor, advised the focal persons to inculcate in the widows the act of saving and commitment to the cooperative project which would be beneficial to them.

Another lecturer emphasized that when a cooperative society is properly organized and managed, the cooperators will act as checks and balances on one another.  He gave an example of where a defaulting cooperative was helped and encouraged by others and was brought back to track.

About forty-five focal persons of Janet Dozie Foundation from the 27 local government areas of the state attended the workshop.
