Every day is a day of Faith – Archbishop Obinna

The Year of Faith declared by Pope Benedict XVI on the 11th of October 2012 will end on Sunday, 24th November 2013 under the papacy of Pope Francis.

The Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri announced this during the Owerri Archdiocesan Pastoral Council meeting held at Obiri Odenigbo, Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, Nov. 7.

means everyday communion with God and with the saints within the church and daily witnessing to God in the wider society”.

The prelate also said that by December 1, 2013, a new Catholic Faith Year will begin with Advent and end as usual with the Feast of Christ the King.  “So, as this official year of faith ends, we continue our normal Catholic life of faith”, he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri has released the programme to end the Year of Faith in every parish.

According to a release issued at the Pastoral Council meeting, the programme begins on Sunday Nov. 17 and the celebratory emphasis is: Okwukwe Katolik – Ndu n’ime Chukwu – n’ime Nzuko Ya.  The Catholic Faith – Life in God within His Church.  The theme is – expressed in four inter-related components – Profession of the Creed, Celebration of the Sacraments, Observance of God’s Commandments and Daily Prayer.

According to the programme, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 is a Special Faith-Renewal-Day-with Rosary (five decades), Penitential Service and Confession, Catechesis on total conversion to God in Christ, Adoration and Holy Mass with Renewal of Faith.

The grand finale comes up next Sunday, November 24, Solemnity of Christ the King: Celebratory Emphasis Self-dedication to Christ the King in joy and sorrow, Public Profession of Faith in Christ through the Corpus Christi Procession – Adoration and Benediction.
