Murder of US-based promoter: Police nab two Alvan students

Two students of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE), Owerri have been arrested by the Imo State Police Command over alleged complicity in the murder of Prince Noel Tochukwu Unegbu, an oversea showbiz promoter.

The suspects are a 22-year-old, Eze Charles Nnamdi, 400 level student and Madubuchi Augustine, 20, a 300 level student.

Parading the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters in Owerri, the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Abdulmajid Ali, said Prince Unegbu, who hails from Akwu, Akokwa in Ideato Council Area of the state was killed on February 4, 2014 in his hotel room in Amakohia, Oweri West LGA by the suspects.

Nnamdi hails from abakaliki, Ebonyi State while Maduabuchi is a native of Ekwulobia in Anambra State.

Also paraded were five members of a kidnap syndicate, who abducted the younger brother of the former deputy governor of Imo State, Pastor Austin Agbaso in his church at Agwa in Oguta LGA.

The police boss disclosed that Madubuchi was arrested in Anambra State while Eze was apprehended in Akwa Ibom State.

He assured that the abducted pastor would soon regain his freedom, adding that the police were closing in on other members of the syndicate who were holding him captive.

The police commissioner said he would not relent in his efforts to ensure that the state was safe for the people.
