Your Excellency put our people to work – Archbishop Obinna tells President Jonathan
The Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace, Most Rev. Anthony J.V. Obinnna, has identified jobs creation as the number one priority in ImoState.

In a brief message prepared for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan during his visit to the state, the Archbishop emphasized that jobs would come through the provision of industrial and commercial projects.
He worried about the teeming population of unemployed graduates in the state and appealed to the President to give job creation some more attention.
“Since Imo State is part and parcel of Nigeria, I pray that you continue to give attention to and make provision for industrial and commercial projects that would help employ more and more of the many graduates and unemployed youth that we have,” the Archbishop said.
His Grace also strongly suggested that equality of life and human dignity be made a priority at the up-coming National Conference.
“In view of the National Conference for which we commend you, I pray that you help entrench in the spirits and minds of all the delegates to the conference the need to see, accept and treat all Nigerians as basically equal in their human dignity. For Nigeria to function as true and lasting democracy every section of Nigeria must be treated as an integral part of it,” he said.
“There must be no sense of superiority and inferiority in any Nigerian or in any segment of Nigeria. Nigerians must be taught and all need to learn how to associate with one another with a respectful and equal fellow-feeling that ennobles and humbles the humanity in each one of us all the time.”
Additionally, Archbishop Obinna drew the attention of President Jonathan to the poor state of the HolyRosaryHospital, Emekuku, a popular and top quality mission hospital which was established in 1934, urging him to assist in renovating the place.
“The HolyRosaryHospital has served millions of patients over the years. It is in great need of upgrading and modernizing to continue its services. It would be most appreciated if your Excellency would help us to upgrade it and equip it with new facilities,” he said.
President Jonathan and several members of his team, including Vice President Namadi Sambo and Senate President David Mark, stormed ImoState on Saturday February 22, to “receive” and commission returning members of their Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Analysts say though this was not a state visit, but Ndi Imo had expected so much from this visit, being the first visit to the state by Goodluck Jonathan, since his election but it seemed Mr. President had other things in his mind.
