St. Joseph’s Parish Umuna celebrates Lay Apostolate Day – As Fr. Nwadike harps on rural Evangelization
The lay apostolate has been described as the Evangelizers who carry the gospel and message down to the rural dwellers and the unbelief in the society, the parish priest of Sacred Heart parish Obioha Ideato South L.G.A Rev, Fr. Cyriacus Nwadike disclosed this while preaching at a holy Mass held at St. Joseph’s parish Umuna Orlu L.G.A Imo State to mark this year lay apostolate day.

He maintained that God created man and give him the highest sense of reasoning and understanding as well as wisdom in order to control every other creature, but regretted how people misuse their God given talent and wisdom for unnecessary things.
Fr. Nwadike pointed out that God loves his people and gave us his commandment to guide us from our daily activities, but man abandoned the commandment and do what pleases the flesh which he said has caused so many problems in the society today.
The homilist enjoined Christians to always stand firm in saying the truth whenever they are called upon anywhere and anytime and also to shun discrimination among themselves as well as to ask for the grace of God in order to succeed in life.
In an address presented by the leaders of the lay apostolate in the parish, described lay apostolate as an integration of many societies in Catholic Church as one body in order to achieve their primary immediate and long term expectation, adding that it also makes Christians to develop an interest and have sufficient enthusiasm on catholic activities.
They noted that the lay apostolate council in St. Joseph’s parish was inaugurated on 16th February 1982 by the late Msgr. Boniface Ibe having late Mr. Innocent Okorie as the chairman which helped to build up order pious societies in the parish.
They regretted that some societies do not participate in some of the programme being organized by the leaders of the organization and charged their various leaders to re-awaken the spirit of their members.
The leaders of the organization commended the parish priest Rev, Fr. Bede Idimogu who is the regional chaplain of lay apostolate for ensuring the success of the occasion as well as carrying everyone alone in the parish, they thanked him for his hard work and restoring some of which the organization is known for.
The parish priest Rev, Fr. Bede Idimogu called for the support of the organization to enable them carry out their charity work, the occasion featured march past, drama among others.
