Student gives birth to triplets, Cries for help
Mrs. Judith Chukwu, a HND 1 student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State who last week gave birth to set of triplets through normal delivery at EUNA Hospital, Faulks Road, Aba, Abia State, has cried out for help from good-spirited Nigerians.
Narrating her ordeal to THE LEADER, the 27-year-old posited that her husband Chukwunyere Joachin Chukwu, a roadside technician, lacks the capacity and resources to effectively cater for the three young infants – all female.
She therefore craves the indulgence of government, corporate, non-governmental, religious organizations and good-spirited individuals to assist in ameliorating her deplorable situation so that the new kids do not die or suffer malnutrition, she said.
According to her, she had earlier had a baby-boy two years ago but is now overwhelmed with the arduous task of nursing the latest addition of triplets.
THE LEADER spoke with Mrs. Judith Chukwu after presenting her children to the Transition Committee Chairman of Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Lady Chioma Ogoke who was delighted.
Lady Chioma Ogoke appreciated the triplets with undisclosed amount of money. She further named one of the triplets after herself.
She promised to provide scholarship for one of the kids. It was a joyous moment at the Council Headquarters as women sang and danced in admiration of the triplets ‘Oge agala a, megbe nwanyi n’bughi ihe, oge agala, nwanyi bu ihe’ (time has passed when women were seen as worthless, now women are worthwhile).
The mother of the children, Mrs. Judith Chukwu narrated how she got more that she bargained. She explained that she was on transit from Port Harcourt, Rivers State to her school when suddenly labour began.
She was quickly taken to EUNA Hospital at Aba where she delivered the triplets rapidly. She noted that she had not prepared at that point. Mrs. Judith Chukwu, though happy and thankful to God for safe delivery, she is lamenting her poor financial status as the burden is very cumbersome now that baby food sells at exorbitant price. She is also worried that she might lose two academic sessions as a result of the birth. She implored all and sundry, wishing to help the family out, to contact her on or her husband Mr. Chukwuyere on 07069160371.
Further investigation reveals that elder brother to Chukwunyere is also blessed with a set of twin-boys.
