Be faithful to your homes and society, priest tasks mothers at St. Paul’s Chaplaincy FHE Trans-Egbu Mothers’ Day Celebration

Mothers have been advised to follow the footsteps of our Blessed Virgin Mary by being faithful to their husbands and society.

These were the words of Rev. Fr. Augustine Ihedimma, priest-in-charge of St. Paul’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Federal Housing Estate, Trans-Egbu, Owerri, when delivering a homily during this year’s Mother’s Day celebration Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Fr. Ihedinma noted that the world was full of darkness before the mother of God brought ‘Light’, which is Jesus into the world.  He tasked mothers to illuminate their families because every mother is a precious gift of blessing to her family.  He went further to warn children to desist from insulting and being disobedient to their mothers.  Mothers, he said, have major roles to play in their families and the society at large.  They should be peacemakers, counselors and role-models to their children.  They should be able to checkmate the activities of their children especially undergraduates who co-habit with opposite sex.

He encouraged all mothers in the chaplaincy especially those of them who are devoted and committed to the upbringing of their children.

The Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Augustine Ihedinma and assisted by Rev. Fr. Emma Diala.

Highlights of the occasion include: cutting of the Mothers’ Day cake, drama presentation by the chaplaincy youths and confirmation of awards of ‘Dynamic Mothers’ on merited members.  The awardees include: Lady Florence Chike Ezeobi, Mrs. Ozor Patience, Nneoma Felicia Iheaka, Mrs. Mary Njoku, Lolo Blessing Ngozi Otumbari, Mrs. Evelyn Akubueze and Mrs. Akuwudike Philomena.

In her welcome address, the CWO President, Nneoma E.C. Obinna appreciated her members for their cooperation and dedication in the activities of the chaplaincy.

In a brief chat with THE LEADER, Mrs. F.A. Alisiobi, Secretary of the Planning Committee thanked all her members for the selfless services rendered and showered gratitude to the Chairman of the Chaplaincy Council, Barr. Peter Ezeobi for his generosity.

In a vote of thanks, Lady P.E. Ozor thanked all mothers and the entire chaplaincy for their support.  To Fr. Ihedimma and Fr. Diala, she poured her unalloyed gratitude for their contributions to the success of this year’s Mothers’ Day celebration in the chaplaincy.
