The Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of Maria Assumpta Cathedral Parish Owerri is set for this year’s Father’s Day which holds on Sunday May 4.
A Press Release issued by the Chairman, Publicity Sub-Committee, Mr. Emma Uzoka said the activities will feature football matches among the four Stations of the Parish, followed by a two-day seminar (April 28&29) to be moderated by Tony Obasi and Chief Donald Ekenta while a retreat holds on April 30 to be preached by the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Andrew Nkwocha. On Sunday, May 4, the Organization will raise funds for the building of St. Joseph Hall of Faith.
Addressing the Planning Committee on Tuesday, the President of Assumpta CMO, Prof Dan Dan Ekezie KSM, urged the Committee to ensure that this year’s celebration is a huge success.
Prof Ekezie noted that Father’s Day is a day ”we ponder over our responsibilities, asses our roles in the home, church and society.”
He commended the Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, for his inspiration, unquantifiable support and prayers. Also, he acknowledged with gratitude the co-opration of the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Andrew Nkwocha, his assistants, Frs. Opara and Anumudu and the Parish Council led by Chief Sylvester Obasi. He however appealed for more support in the area of sensitization of Christian fathers on the need to register with CMO and play active role.
Responding, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Barr A.U. Nwaugo assured the CMO President and the entire members of the readiness of his Committee to deliver. He however appealed to Christian Fathers and members of the Parish to support CMO and participate actively in the programme for this year’s Father’s Day.
Meanwhile, the address of the President, Owerri Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Men Organization (OACCMO), Nwaora Alfred Nonyelum KSM to all parishes will be published on the “D day,” Sunday, May 4.
