In his homily, Rev. Fr. Celestine K. Anyanwu said “God is the same today, yesterday and forever. Our God is great and in all his doings, he has us always in mind. Love of God is love of men. Just as the disciples shared things with love that is how God wants us to love one another”.
He recalled how Thomas who was not with the other disciples when Jesus visited them refused to believe when he was told that Jesus has resurrected. What Thomas did brought blessing to us who never saw the Savior and touching him, because Jesus said to Thomas “You believe because you see, blessed are they who did not see but believe”.
According to the priest, the love that existed among the disciples and the communities lacks in our own communities today.
Izombe community, he said, is a community blessed by God with oil and other resources but the love is not there. Our people desert the community to live in other places just to save their heads from their own people who instead of sharing love with them like the disciples are now the greatest enemies to their brothers.
Addressing HRH Eze Chijioke Collins Egwuagu, Nwama II Umunwama Community, Fr. Celestine advised him to use this opportunity that God gave him as Eze, to be the servant of Izombe people and forgive all those who have wronged him in any way. “With this staff of office you present to God today, gather the people of Izombe that have scattered with joy just like Moses with his staff gathered and freed the children of Israel”, said the priest.
To the Ugoeze, the wife of the royal father, he said, you are now the Ugoeze at your young age, respect your fellow women, exercise humility, let the Blessed Virgin Mary be your model.
Advising the ezeship aspirants who lost, Fr. Anyanwu pleaded with them to stop any form of fighting and support the Eze for the development of our community. He also said that this royal stool will one day leave the family of Egwuagu for another family, “so let’s support Eze Chijioke Egwuagu in rebuilding our community”.
HRH Eze Chijioke Collins Egwuagu, Nwama II Umunwama Community in his speech, thanked the people of Izombe who made his victory as an eze a success and said “since I started struggling as a man, I have never thought of being the Eze of Umunwama Community”.
Life is all about purpose, he said. I am not in enmity with anybody. God gave me this staff of office because he has an assignment for me in Umunwama Izombe Community (Ger 18:1-7,11). I have nothing against my rivals because there is nothing wrong with one trying to actualize his dream.
Eze Chijioke announced free medical care for Izombe people which will start from 1st of May and run through the week and free wheel chairs for the crippled in Izombe community.
