St. Michael’s Amakohia donates foodstuff, cash to St. Peter Claver Seminary

St. Michael’s Catholic Parish Amakohia Uratta, last Tuesday, April 29, 2014 presented foodstuffs and a cash donation of N50,000 to the St. Peter Claver Seminary Okpala for the feeding of the seminarians.

The gifts consisted of tubers of yam, bags of rice, beans, garri and corn as well as palm and vegetable oils.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council, Barr. (Sir) Tony Emeana disclosed that such gesture was an annual event.

According to him, this year’s occasion was unique in the sense that the gifts presented were not only more of number but that the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Ibole, Vicar-General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri graced the occasion with his presence.

Barr. Emeana observed that parishioners of St. Michael’s Church Uratta were very happy to contribute to the feeding of the seminarians who are the future priests. He hoped that the provisions and cash will go a long way to driving away hunger from the institution. He thanked the Parish Priest for his fatherly guidance and parishioners for their generosity towards the seminary.

Also present at the occasion were: the President of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO), Sir S.A. Ohaneje, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Dr. Mrs. C.I. Ebiringa and Treasurer of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), Mrs. Oneji who represented the CWO President. Also present were Lady Franca Emeana, CWO SecretaryVice-President CWO, Lady Justina Emeana, Sir P.J. Opara, Parish Public Relations Officer (PRO) and the Treasurer, Mr. John Ngadi, the President of the Mary League, Mary Chidinma, the Catechizer, Mr. Luke Nze and David Opara, Youth Leader.
