Comrade Oguamanam sworn in as CGC youth leader
-As Imo Governor inaugurates CGC officers
The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has sworn-in the elected members of the Community Government Council (CGC) of 637 Autonomous Communities in the state.
The ceremony which took place on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre, Owerri, attracted the presence of notable politicians in the state, including Prince Eze Madumere, Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, His Lordship, Hon. Justice B.A. Njemanze, Chief Judge and Prof. Anthony G. Anwuka, Secretary to the Imo State Government. Others were Sir Jude Ejiogu, Chief of Staff, HRM Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, Chairman Council of Ndi Eze, Hon. Val Mbmala, Commissioner for Ministry of Community Government Council and Traditional Affairs, Chief Bona I. Ibebuike, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Among those sworn-in was Comrade Oguamanam Cornelius as Youth Leader of Ahaeze Ogwa Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State.
In his speech, Comrade Oguamanam, who is also St. Anthony’s Station Youth President, Maria Assumpta Cathedral Parish Owerri, commended the Governor for his pragmatic and people-oriented programmes, adding that with the help of CGC officers, the Governor has brought government closer to the people in rural areas.
Comrade Oguamanam outlined his duties as a youth leader to include, identification and organization of vigilante members, creation of social centres, formation of Scouts, Girl Guides and Man O’war groups in the community etc. It also includes soliciting the help of other patriotic indigenes of Ahaeze Ogwa Autonomous Community in carrying out his duties.
A total of five papers were presented during the swearing-in exercise while Omeni Imo Cultural Troupe was also present to make the ceremony colourful.
