Holy Trinity Catholic Church, World Bank Estate, New Owerri has celebrated its 2014 Parish Feast Day.
The occasion took place on June 15, being observed worldwide as Trinity Sunday. Activities marking the Feast Day which started on Saturday June 7, 2014 included a retreat for the parishioners.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Ijemaru who presided over the Sunday Mass and also delivered the homily, had Rev. Fr. Simon Nwachukwu as celebrant.
According to him, living a spiritual life as Christian and more so as a Holy Trinity Family, means living in the same communion with the three persons in one God. “When we are intimate, united and one with God like Moses, God will speak to us face to face”, he said. It was this intimacy that made God to send his only son to save the world. Intimacy with the Trinity brings peace by sharing our gifts with one another, said Fr. Ijemaru.
The second phase of the programme of the day started with the unveiling and cutting of the Feast Day Cake that was presented, arranged and decorated by ‘Lolo C.A. Nwachukwu’, whose birthday coincided with the Feast of the Holy Trinity.
Fr. Francis Onuoha, blessed the cake while the basket of blessings was blessed by Rev. Fr. Philip Opara. Many names were called out from the four stations to render financial support to activities of the day. It would be recalled that the pot of blessing had already been blessed by Rev Fr. Nicholas Ijemaru during the parish Adoration Day.
The Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Barr. U.S.A Ebere, ,read the welcome address disclosing that this was the sixth Feast Day celebration since the official inauguration of their parish on l8th May, 2008 by His Grace, Most. Rev. A.J.V. Obinna. He listed some of the achievements of the parish to include weddings and baptisms, visiting to the sick by the priest, the imposing Holy Trinity Parish Hall, the C.W.O.
