The Asst. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Eustace Nwanekwu, the CWO Home and Abroad
Chukwunyere Catholic Church, the Mother Church among the five Catholic parishes in Egbema clan was a beehive of activities on Sunday, August 17, 2014. The occasion was the grand-finale of the activities marking the 2014 August Meeting, the home and abroad CWO of the parish.
The ceremony started with a concelebrated High Mass presided over by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kingsley Ogala.
In his homily, the curate, Rev. Fr. Eustace Nwanekwu admonished the women to rely on God in all circumstances stressing that there is no condition beyond God’s comprehension.
Welcoming the women, the President of Chukwunyere Parish Home and Abroad CWO, Lady Lucy Nkeiru Nzeoma advised them to be prayerful and emulate the exemplary life of our Mother Mary. She enjoined them to be role models and abide religiously by the teachings of the Holy Church as Good Mothers are blessing to their families.
In her own speech, the Mother of the Day, Ogbuefi Vivian Gerald Irona, who was represented by Ugoeze Ojiure, charged the women to be agent of peace and development. She stressed that when every home is peaceful the society shall know peace and consequently development would be achieved.
Addressing the women, the Royal Father of the day, HRH Eze Engr. A.I. Iwuogu, condemned the activities of cult groups in the area. He advised the women to draw their children closer to God instead of allowing them wallow in sin and criminal activities. He stated that with proper intercession through prayers even the hardest criminal can change and become good citizen.
The highlight of the occasion include the distribution of high-quality clothing materials and other edibles to indigent women from the three stations in the parish.
In her vote of thanks, the Secretary of the Home and Abroad CWO, Mrs. Deborah Ojiaku was full of praises to their invitees for honouring the occasion. She prayed that God replenishes their purses and grant them journey mercies back to their homes.
