The Iwuoha family has appealed to the Imo State Government and police and the judiciary to expedite action on Citizen Samuelson Iwuoha and his wife, Chioma who have been in detention for over three and half months now.
Samuelson and his wife were arrested on June 3, 2014 over the alleged murder of one Mr. Franklin Okolie in Owerri in June.
In a passionate plea for the release of Samuelson and wife, his brother, Nnaemeka Iwuoha said the children of the couple, Nwachinaemere, 10 years and Adannaya 8, were going through untold hardship as a result of the continued incarceration of their parents.
“We therefore want to use this medium to appeal to the society at large and various authorities to do all within their power to ensure that Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha and wife are released immediately to reunite once again with their children, family and friends”, Nnaemeka Iwuoha pleaded.
Activist Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha, the immediate past Media Aide to the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and his wife Chioma, were arrested on June 3 over the alleged killing of one Frankline Okolie near Iwuoha’s house at Willie Elezieanya Street, Ikenegbu Owerri.
After two months in police detention, the couple were charged to the Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri for murder.
The Presiding Magistrate remarked that her court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain a murder case.
She therefore remanded the couple in the Federal Prisons, Owerri and directed the police counsel to forward the case file to the Director for Public Prosecution (DPP) for further action.
Meanwhile, the couple are still in detention.
