Ezinne Fidelia Ahanonu goes home



The funeral Mass for the repose of late Ezinne Fidelia Ahanonu was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Umuezeala Owerri, Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State on Friday, June 19, 2015.

Rev. Fr. Nwachukwu Charles officiated at the Mass with Rev. Fr. Ekemgba Felix, who gave the sermon.  In his sermon, Fr. Ekemgba prayed for the repose of the deceased Ezinne.  He also pleaded that God should in his infinite mercy forgive all her transgressions and sins committed as a mortal while she lived.

He admonished the congregation to prepare themselves for eternity as no one knows the time to answer the call of God to eternity.

The Mass which was held at the new church building attracted high profile personalities, who include, Chief Richard Egbule (Obanze), Barr. Philip Ihechu, HRH Eze Julius Okeagu, HRH Eze B.C. Onuoha and members of the Catholic Women Organization who came in their numbers.

Aged 90, late Ezinne Fidelia Chinaenyeoku Ahanonu is survived by Mrs. Helen Iwuanyanwu, Mr. John Ahanonu (NACO), Innocent Ahanonu, Mrs. Agatha Uchendu, Mrs. Eunice Anyanwu and Mrs. Caroline Elemuwa.

The deceased was born in 1925 to the family of late Pa Echenelem of Umuoni Ihitteafoukwu in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA.

In his tribute, Maurice Ihechu observed that the deceased lived a good Christian life worthy of emulation.  According to him, people from all walks of life attended the funeral in appreciation of her unique qualities.

He warned that heaven and hell are real but it pays to follow the footsteps of Christ.

In his contribution, Hon. Ken Agbim, the member representing Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly observed that the deceased lived her life for Christ and affected the society positively.
